The wait is almost over, and we’re one step closer to announcing the winners of Autodesk’s AEC Excellence Awards 2019! Along with our co-sponsors Construction Dive, Smart Cities Dive, Society for Marketing Professional Services and Informed Infrastructure, we’re excited to reveal this year’s incredible group of finalists.
Meet the finalists and their projects.
So which projects made the cut? One is a complex bridge over one of Germany’s most heavily-traveled highways; built from a single model using digital planning methods. Another is an intelligent underground wastewater treatment plant in China that serves one million people using BIM data, IoT, and sensors. And then there’s the University of Arizona Health Sciences Innovation building, which shows the impact that prefabrication can have on project outcomes. These are just three of the innovative projects chosen as contenders for this year’s award. Together, all the finalists showcase the ingenuity and incredible work being done around the world in the architecture, engineering, and construction industries.
Eighteen judges faced the difficult task of narrowing down 27 finalists from more than 186 submissions. This year’s categories—Building Design, Construction, and Infrastructure—include small, medium, and large-sized projects with budgets ranging from less than $1 million to more than $4 billion. That’s because technology, collaboration, and innovation happen no matter the size of a project.
For the second year, the Innovator of the Year award will also recognize a user of technology that is leading, changing, and transforming the design and/or construction process for their project, company, or industry in a positive way. This category received 43 entries from 19 countries, representing a diverse group of AEC industry professionals.
In addition to announcing the Innovator of the Year, we look forward to unveiling all 10 winners in October and honoring their achievements at the Autodesk University Las Vegas AEC Customer Showcase Celebration breakfast on November 19. We hope to see you there!
