Autodesk joins over a hundred companies as the first signatories of the EU AI Pact, supporting the development of Trusted AI in Europe and beyond.

The AI Pact is an initiative led by the European Commission that seeks voluntary pledges from companies to help drive trustworthy and safe AI development in advance of the EU AI Act taking effect. The AI Act is a legal framework enacted in August 2024 and will take effect in phases over the next three years. It provides AI developers and deployers with clear requirements and obligations regarding specific uses of AI. Its goal is to foster trustworthy AI in Europe and beyond. Companies signing the EU AI Pact commit to at least three core actions:

  • Adopting an AI governance strategy to foster the uptake of AI in the organization and work towards future compliance with the AI Act
  • Identifying and mapping AI systems likely to be categorized as high-risk under the AI Act
  • Promoting AI awareness and literacy within their organization, ensuring ethical and responsible AI development

Autodesk has been investing in artificial intelligence for over a decade, augmenting creative problem-solving, automating tedious and repetitive work, and providing analysis tools to inform decision making. Throughout this process, we have been building integrity and trust into Autodesk AI, and the signing of this pact is an important step in this journey.

In addition to signing the AI Pact, Autodesk is involved in several initiatives to enable trusted AI across industries, including our participation in the US. AI Safety Institute Consortium (AISIC) run by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI).

“AI is on a trajectory to reshape our relationship with technology” said Mike Haley, senior vice president of Research at Autodesk. “Autodesk applauds the EU for being one of the first to enact regulations to direct AI’s momentum toward a more holistically positive impact to society. We are working to harness the power of AI to transform the world for the better.”

We look forward to sharing our progress, learning from others, and continuing to lead by example as we help leverage trusted AI to deliver new ways of designing and making.
