New Suites Deliver Complete Set of Digital Prototyping Tools for Manufacturers
Autodesk today unveiled new Digital Prototyping software – geared specifically for manufacturers – that will deliver affordable access to the complete Autodesk portfolio of solutions. The 2015 Autodesk Manufacturing design suites are comprised of Autodesk Product Design Suite (PrDS), Autodesk Factory Design Suite (FDS), data management offerings and a comprehensive Simulation and software portfolio.
“Our suites provide designers and engineers with a complete set of tools and cloud services that allow them to simplify design, visualization and simulation workflows from product development through delivery,” said Robert “Buzz” Kross, senior vice president, Design, Lifecycle and Simulation at Autodesk. “By offering solutions that are scalable, cost effective and open, our customers have the opportunity to design, manufacture and sell great products.”
Autodesk’s 2015 design suites are available in several cost-effective editions including Standard (FDS only), Ultimate and Premium (FDS and PrDS). Both Suites include an enhanced version of Autodesk Inventor, which brings impactful additions to the 3D modeling environment, while also delivering a strong package of customer-requested productivity improvements.
Autodesk Product Design Suite Delivers Digital Prototyping for Product Development
New in the 2015 version of Product Design Suite 2015 are Freeform and Direct Edit modeling with enhanced Sketch features. These features will provide an alternate modeling approach with Inventor to quickly explore and create freeform shaped models, allowing users to parametrically modify imported solid models or native files, and sketches can be shaped faster and more easily with the new constraint tools and settings.

The new Direct Editing tool lets users easily manipulate native or imported geometry and parametrically move, size, rotate, and delete imported solid models or native Inventor files
The Inventor learning experience environment and tools have also been updated to make learning easier and faster through a personal dashboard and tutorials that guide users through the most common workflows. Enhancements have also been made to parts, assemblies and drawings workflows.
“Valiant is a global full-service supplier of automated production systems and tooling for the automotive, aerospace, defense, heavy equipment, alternative energy and consumer product sectors, and using Autodesk Product Design Suite helps us be much more competitive,” said Andrew Pawelski, CAD Systems Specialist, Valiant. “Our automotive business designs automated production systems for automotive body and powertrain manufacturing with over 250,000 parts, and Product Design Suite helps our engineers be able to spend more of their mental energy innovating and creating value for our customers.”
Autodesk Factory Design Suite Extends Digital Prototyping for Factory Optimization
Autodesk Factory Design Suite 2015 provides factory customers with access to interoperable, layout-specific workflows, cloud-based factory asset resources and powerful visualization and analysis tools that help increase design accuracy, efficiency and communication.
Additional new features for the 2014 suite include streamlined transition from legacy workflows, extended use of Point Clouds through Autodesk ReCap and improvements to the Bill of Materials command, which will allow users to quickly create, edit and process a list of equipment used in factory layout.

“Dearborn Mid-West provides turnkey conveyor systems for all the major automotive manufacturers in North America, and using Autodesk Factory Design Suite allows us to see space constraints in our customers’ factories in advance and position our equipment accurately the first time,” said CJ Bagierek, vice president of automotive at Dearborn Mid-West Company. “With no interferences or field rework requirements, we’re able to save time and money and impress our customers with 3D designs at the same time.”
Autodesk Simulation 2015 Products Integrate into Each Phase of the Development Process
The Autodesk Simulation family of products includes 2015 versions of Autodesk Simulation Mechanical, Autodesk Simulation CFD and Autodesk Simulation Moldflow and Autodesk Simulation Composites serves as a comprehensive set of simulation software tools that are highly interoperable and integrate into each phase of the product development process. Enhancements to the 2014 simulation portfolio include intuitive workflows with updated capabilities within Simulation Moldflow and Simulation CFD, enhanced accuracy and speed through the support of Linux systems in Simulation Moldflow and decoupled design scenarios on Simulation Mechanical and other industry-leading additions only available within the Autodesk Simulation portfolio.
