This annual meeting assembles representatives from the world\u2019s governments to negotiate how to operationalize the Paris Climate Agreement, with the collective goal of preventing global temperatures from increasing beyond 1.5 degrees Celsius. <div id=\"attachment_5804\" style=\"width: 1180px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5804\" class=\"wp-image-5804 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/adsknews.autodesk.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/12\/COP25_Panel.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1170\" height=\"692\" srcset=\"https:\/\/adsknews.autodesk.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/12\/COP25_Panel.png 1170w, https:\/\/adsknews.autodesk.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/12\/COP25_Panel-300x177.png 300w, https:\/\/adsknews.autodesk.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/12\/COP25_Panel-1024x606.png 1024w, https:\/\/adsknews.autodesk.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/12\/COP25_Panel-700x414.png 700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5804\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A panel of global climate leaders discuss climate action at COP25.<\/p><\/div> This year at COP25, in addition to representing Autodesk, I also served as a delegate of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearestillin.com\/us-climate-action-center-cop25-madrid-spain\">the U.S. Climate Action Center<\/a> (USCAC) coordinated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wearestillin.com\/news\/us-leaders-will-show-force-un-climate-talks-despite-federal-action-withdraw-us-paris-agreement\">We Are Still In<\/a>. Alongside colleagues from Microsoft, Target, Mars and others, we demonstrated that American businesses remain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedforparisagreement.com\/\">United for the Paris Agreement<\/a>. We took part in bilateral meetings with ambassadors from other countries and U.S. Senate staffers to hear their perspectives, reaffirm support and commitments to the Paris Agreement, and call for continued action. At Autodesk,\u00a0the most positive impact we can have is to support our customers with technology to help them <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/sustainability\/overview\">design sustainably<\/a>. And we need to model sustainable design by reducing greenhouse gas emissions in our own operations. <\/p>\n<div class=\"pull-quote\"> <span class=\"TextRun SCXW15208340 BCX4\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW15208340 BCX4\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/redshift\/climate-debate\/\">Learn more<\/a> on policy, innovation and infrastructure from Autodesk CEO Andrew Anagnost\u00a0<\/span><\/span> <\/div>\n<p> But action by private industry alone isn\u2019t enough. We cannot\u00a0meaningfully address climate change, or be competitive in the low-carbon economy, without significant government action. As a company, with our customers, and with governments, we\u2019ve been busy this year making progress on climate change: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Committing Autodesk to Net-Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions in 2020:\u00a0<\/strong>In 2009, Autodesk led the industry with one of the first science-based greenhouse gas reduction targets and\u00a0made\u00a0the approach\u00a0open-source to\u00a0help our customers and partners\u00a0adopt\u00a0this new best practice.\u00a0We are meeting this goal by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/sustainability\/business-operations\">reducing our carbon footprint by 43%<\/a>\u00a0over 2009. We have powered our business and cloud with renewable energy since 2016.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/adsknews.autodesk.com\/pressrelease\/the-opportunity-for-better-starts-at-autodesk-university-2019\">Last month at AU<\/a>, we announced our commitment to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions starting in FY21. We\u00a0will\u00a0attain this goal\u00a0by applying our internal price on carbon to enable greater efficiency,\u00a0continued investment in renewable energy, and partnership\u00a0with customers to create innovative carbon offset and sequestration projects.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Calling for Net-Zero Emissions with CFOs from Around the Globe:\u00a0<\/strong>Earlier this week, Autodesk CFO Scott Herren, along with multiple other global CFOs, signed on to a net-zero emissions <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accountingforsustainability.org\/en\/activities\/net-zero.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement of support<\/a> organized by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.accountingforsustainability.org\/en\/about-us\/our-networks\/cfo-leadership-network\/cfo-leadership-network-usa.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Accounting for Sustainability<\/a>\u00a0(A4S), an organization established by Prince Charles in 2004 to inspire action by finance leaders to encourage resilient business models and a sustainable economy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Continuing Investment in Technology to Help Customers Cut Carbon:<\/strong>\u00a0We further facilitated carbon measurement and sustainability through technology for our customers. An important example was serving as a lead sponsor and key developer of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/adsknews.autodesk.com\/news\/embodied-carbon-in-construction-calculator\">Embodied Carbon Calculator (EC3) tool<\/a>, launched just last month at\u00a0Greenbuild. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.autodesk.com\/BIM360\/en\/Detail\/Index?id=4506450668908070731&amp;appLang=en&amp;os=Web\">EC3 tool, integrated with Autodesk BIM360<\/a>\u00a0enables the building industry to easily access and view embodied carbon emissions data for their materials choices, allowing them to make carbon-smart choices during material specification and procurement.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Advocating for Keeping the US in the Paris Agreement:\u00a0<\/strong>In 2015, at COP21, 197\u00a0countries committed to substantially reducing greenhouse gas emissions to address climate change. Last month, President Trump formally notified the UN that the US would withdraw from the Paris Agreement. In response, our CEO Andrew Anagnost, along with more than 70 other CEOs and the AFL-CIO, signed on to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedforparisagreement.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United For the Paris Agreement<\/a>\u00a0declaration, urging the United States to remain in the Agreement and continue the work on its climate goals.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Supporting Carbon Pricing\u00a0<\/strong><strong>and Reductions in Carbon Emissions:<\/strong>\u00a0In May, we joined with other US business leaders to urge Congress to pass meaningful climate legislation, including setting a price on carbon. This\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leadoncarbonpricing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LEAD on Carbon Pricing<\/a>\u00a0event was the largest business gathering on sustainability on Capitol Hill in over a decade.\u00a0 Autodesk also joined major investors and companies in calling on the Massachusetts government to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceres.org\/news-center\/press-releases\/leading-investors-and-companies-urge-massachusetts-commit-zero-carbon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">commit to a net-zero carbon economy by 2050<\/a>, the state of New Hampshire to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceres.org\/news-center\/press-releases\/new-hampshire-business-leaders-call-smart-clean-energy-policy-and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">support clean energy public policies<\/a>, and supporting a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceres.org\/news-center\/press-releases\/regional-pact-tackle-transportation-emissions-presents-bold-vision-clean\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new market-based policy<\/a> to create a clean, equitable and efficient transportation system in the Northeast. .<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5803\" src=\"https:\/\/adsknews.autodesk.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/12\/COP25_Posters.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1170\" height=\"878\" srcset=\"https:\/\/adsknews.autodesk.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/12\/COP25_Posters.png 1170w, https:\/\/adsknews.autodesk.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/12\/COP25_Posters-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/adsknews.autodesk.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/12\/COP25_Posters-1024x768.png 1024w, https:\/\/adsknews.autodesk.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/12\/COP25_Posters-700x525.png 700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px\" \/> <\/p>\n<div class=\"pull-quote\"> See our progress and sustainable commitments in our <a href=\"https:\/\/damassets.autodesk.net\/content\/dam\/autodesk\/www\/sustainability\/docs\/pdf\/autodesk-fy2019-sustainability-report.pdf\">FY19 Sustainability Report<\/a>. <\/div>\n<p> I continue to be inspired by the sophistication and dedication to climate action from our customers, partners, and employees around the globe.
