This makes the data far easier to interpret than a set of numbers, and allows us to make connections and create insights and that otherwise wouldn\u2019t be possible. V<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">isualization <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">also refer<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> to bringing design ideas to life through <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">immersive technologies like <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">virtual <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">reality or<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> informing reality with data through augmented reality. \u201cOne thing Autodesk products have always led the industry with is great visualization capabilities,\u201d Locklin says.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">Finally, there\u2019s collaboration. With Forge, you can give people on <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">pro<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ject <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">shared <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">access <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ata and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">designs in tailored ways<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. \u201cDisparate teams can work on the same project, even if they\u2019re in different cities or countries,\u201d says Locklin. \u201cThey can see the models as they are changed in real time and play their role without the delays that used to be common before the cloud.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span> <\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Forge in action<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">Since the launch of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/forge.autodesk.com\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Forge<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> in 201<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">5,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> companies in a range of industries have been putting the platform to work to increase efficiency and improve outcomes.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skystone.com\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Skystone<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> is building the world\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/juliabrenner\/2019\/11\/22\/the-new-marriott-in-manhattan-is-the-worlds-tallest-modular-hotel\/#58ff20041a11\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">tallest <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">modular hotel<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> in New York and using Forge<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> to get it done. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">They <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">are <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">design<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ing <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">r<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">oom modules in Revit, manufactur<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ing<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">the modules<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">in a factory in Poland<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> then<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">deliver<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ing<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> the fully <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">outfitted<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> rooms<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2014complete with <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">beds, lamps, carpets<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, and more\u2014<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to New York via cargo ship. They use <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a service called <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kit-connect.com\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">KitConnect<\/span><\/a> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">built <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">on <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Forge<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> by<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.projectfrog.com\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Project Frog<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">to create<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and store<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> a library of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">components<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rule<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">sets<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">that can be <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">configur<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ed in Revit. Th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">has <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">saved them <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">hundreds of<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">hours of manual <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">work<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Project Frog is an Autodesk Forge Fund investee.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span> <span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:2,&quot;335551620&quot;:2}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Not-for-profit <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/buildchange.org\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Build Change<\/span><\/a> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">uses <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Forge <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to create safer, more resilient housing in developing countries. The first step in their process is to assess and analyze the existing structures, something they used to do <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">manually. \u201cWe used<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> AutoCAD <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to churn out unique floor plans for every homeowner. We walked around in villages with handheld Garmin GPS units to keep track of locations<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, a<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">nd <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">we compared satellite images before and after disasters to determine who lost homes<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> according to <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Elizabeth <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Hausler<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, Ph.D., Build Change Founder and CEO<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Now they\u2019re using Forge to automate the process, analyzing photos sent by the homeowners with AI <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">determine<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> whether a house can be retrofitted. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cWhat once took <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> team of three people four or five days now takes one person three hours,\u201d Hausler sa<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ys<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. \u201cThat\u2019s 97% less time.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">Companies in the manufacturing space are <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">also putting Forge to work<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">CADshare<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/forge.autodesk.com\/customer-stories\/cadshare\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">turned to<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">Forge<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> to simplify the process for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to publish 3D manuals for spare parts. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Building on both<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> the Forge Viewer and the Model Derivative API<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">y<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> built a platform that enables OEMs to <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">generate manuals from their own design files in about a day, down from the 10 days it used to take. And these manuals create better experiences for their customers, with<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">metadata <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">baked into the<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> 3D models. \u201cForge not only helped us speed our product to market, it also removed risks associated with custom development in our business,\u201d says Chris Acheson, Founder and CEO of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cadshare.com\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">CADshare<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> \u201cWith the time we save, we focus on building new features.
