So, what are we exploring this week in London? More than 2,000 industry professionals from over 55 countries will join us over two days for networking, learning and hands-on experiences. First up, some customers who are leading the way in industry convergence and blurring the lines between construction and manufacturing: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A mobile micro-factory from <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.howickltd.com\/\"><strong>Howick<\/strong><\/a><strong>: <\/strong>Limited space and accessibility issues made it difficult to set up an efficient construction site for the renovation of the Travelodge hotel in Windsor, England. Builders found a solution in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodesk.com\/solutions\/architecture-engineering-construction\/prefabrication-modular-construction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prefabrication and modular construction<\/a>, which led to a number of benefits including time savings and reduction in waste.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scaledrobotics.com\/\"><strong>Scaled Robotics\u2019<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<strong>space-sensing robots<\/strong>: The construction site is a tough environment for a robot, but by using the right 3D modeling and design software, Scaled Robotics\u00a0has created an\u00a0autonomous mobile robot\u00a0capable of\u00a0mapping\u00a0the construction site\u00a010\u00a0times faster than existing methods.\u00a0The scans verify the point cloud models against the BIM model to allow construction site managers to have a better understanding of the project status and more accurate timelines for delivery.<\/li>\n<li><strong>International construction firm <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.macegroup.com\/\"><strong>MACE<\/strong><\/a> has worked on some of the most famous buildings on the London skyline\u2014The Shard, the Southbank Tower, and Tottenham Hotspur\u2019s impressive new stadium. Now, they\u2019re doing some incredible work at London\u2019s Olympic Park, building a double-tower development that will provide 480 new homes for Londoners.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Engineering and construction company <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aecom.com\/\"><strong>AECOM<\/strong><\/a> also graced the stage at AU London, describing how they\u2019re switching up processes to become more efficient and prepare for the new ways of designing and making buildings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> Attendees at AU London will also witness some awe-inspiring new projects created with <a href=\"https:\/\/autode.sk\/32zUXvT\">generative design<\/a>: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Starck\u2019s <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/autode.sk\/2JVvnsn\"><strong>AI-infused chair<\/strong><\/a>: What happens when world-renowned French designer Philippe Starck partners with artificial intelligence to reimagine furniture design? Meet the AI Chair, the first mass-produced chair imagined by a human and co-created with generative design.<\/li>\n<li><strong>JPL\u2019s <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/autode.sk\/32Hjxen\"><strong>far-out space lander<\/strong><\/a><strong>:<\/strong>A concept lander that Autodesk developed with NASA\u2019s Jet Propulsion Laboratory also made a cameo at AU London. A work of artful engineering, this masterful prototype was created using generative design and three different manufacturing methods, showing that you can always find a new way to make things.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Toronto\u2019s <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodeskresearch.com\/projects\/autodesk-mars\"><strong>future-forward workplace<\/strong><\/a><strong>: <\/strong>In designing its\u00a0new office and research space in the\u00a0MaRS\u00a0Innovation District of Toronto, Autodesk pushed the limits of its generative design technology\u00a0to\u00a0create\u00a0a\u00a0workplace\u00a0built around the well-being of its employees.\u00a0It\u2019s an example of how machine intelligence and human intelligence can work in concert to\u00a0create better outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <span class=\"TextRun SCXW142733808 BCX4\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW142733808 BCX4\">We\u2019re clearly seeing incredible applications of generative design, and we\u2019re happy to <a href=\"https:\/\/autode.sk\/2XYUvIZ\">announce a slate of new capabilities<\/a> coming to Fusion 360. We\u2019ve declared two new manufacturing constraints for generative design\u2014die casting and 2.5-axis milling\u2014to make it easier for Fusion 360 users to incorporate the next-generation manufacturing technology into their workflows, with the production processes they already have in place. We\u2019ll also be introducing new costing functionality for generative design that provides cost insights for each of the results in your generative design study. It doesn\u2019t stop there\u2014last but not least, we\u2019re introducing a new manufacturing extension for Fusion 360 customers, so they can seamlessly activate high-end manufacturing functionality, right within the platform, when they need to take their production processes to the next level.
