Alex Athenson
Alex Athenson, AIA is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Foothill Catalog Foundation, and a licensed Architect and Urban Designer living and working in Pasadena, CA. The Foothill Catalog Foundation is a nonprofit organization with the mission to develop a Catalog of preapproved home designs, allowing LA wildfire survivors to rebuild quickly, resiliently, and affordably, while simultaneously retaining the cultural and architectural identity of the community. With an expertise and passion for regional traditional design, Alex and his wife co-founded the Foothill Catalog Foundation in January 2025 while they were evacuated from their own home during the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles. Alex has previously earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago, as well as a Master of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame. Alex is a board member of the AIA Pasadena Foothill Chapter, and has contributed to a number of architecture and urban design projects throughout the United States.
