Autodesk Showcases Integrated CAM Offerings at IMTS 2014

Company Demonstrates its Commitment to Open CAD and Announces TV Show Sponsorship

Autodesk, Inc. entered the computer aided manufacturing (CAM) market in 2012 and today supplies a number of CAM solutions that appeal to a broad range of manufacturers, regardless of their choice of CAD software. At this year’s International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago, Autodesk will be demonstrating its commitment to Open CAD by showcasing its portfolio of integrated desktop and cloud-based CAM solutions.

Today, it is nearly impossible to find anything that is designed, engineered, and manufactured with tools from just a single software provider. Autodesk’s goal is to supply manufacturers with CAM solutions that allow users to take advantage of a fully integrated design-to-manufacturing workflow built around their CAD platform of choice.

Autodesk will exhibit many of its integrated CAM applications at IMTS 2014, including HSMWorks and Inventor HSM, which are designed as fully integrated CAM solutions for SolidWorks® and Autodesk Inventor. For customers who have multiple CAD solutions or have not committed to a single tool, the company will also be showing Autodesk Fusion 360, which offers a fully integrated, cloud-based, CAD/CAM solution that supports modeling data from leading CAD platforms including CATIA, NX, and Pro/ENGINEER.

“Manufacturers have many options and expect to use software they’re comfortable with on the devices and platforms that are most convenient for them,” said Carl White, senior director of manufacturing engineering at Autodesk. “Compatibility and interoperability with leading CAD tools can either open or shut the door to customers, and we want to make it clear that our doors are always open.”

Autodesk CAM: The Technology Behind the New TV Series “TITAN American Built”

The company also announced that it is the official CAD/CAM sponsor for the first season of “TITAN American Built,” a new television show airing October 24, 2014, on MavTV. The show, which is dedicated to showcasing American manufacturing and machining, will follow Titan Gilroy, CEO of Titan America, and his team of machinists and manufacturing professionals as they tackle mission critical projects under tight deadlines with no margin for error.

“‘TITAN American Built’ is all about showcasing the people and companies that are helping to usher in a new industrial revolution in the United States,” said Gilroy. “The adoption of new technology is vital in bringing American manufacturing back to its former glory and Autodesk is the perfect partner to help us bring our vision to life.”
